Deputy Supported Accommodation Manager

The HOST provides supported accommodation, targeted and tenancy sustainment services to young people aged 16 - 25 including care leavers, unaccompanied asylum seekers and families.  The service directly manages Beverley House, which provides supported housing for seven young people & Green Leas, which provides 16 supported flats for care leavers and one emergency room. It is a 24 hour, seven day a week service. The service is currently opening a new home in Maidenhead for 20 care leavers. You will be expected to work across all our supported housing projects, currently Kingston, New Malden and Maidenhead.

About the role

As Deputy Supported Accommodation Manager you will support and deputise for the Supported Accommodation Manager in their absence for all day to day operations and hold shared responsibility for all safeguarding for the young people at the two homes. You will ensure that the young people in our service have a safe environment and are empowered to reach their full potential, which at times may include addressing complex needs often coupled with the impact of a history of childhood trauma.

Your working hours will include shifts on the project rotas which includes two early (starting at 8am) and two late shifts (finishing at 10pm) and you will be part of the on-call manager rota for the HOST service.

About you

  • A willingness to take any mandatory training and a Level 5 qualification
  • Educated to level 3 in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience of working with vulnerable young people within an Ofsted regulated setting with the ability to manage high levels of risk, including safeguarding.
  • Ability to lead on safeguarding and management decisions when on shift at the homes and  whilst on call for the wider team.
  • Excellent administration and time management skills.
  • Experience of being solution focussed and able to seek resolutions.
  • Experience of managing people and ability to manage performance and service development.
  • Able to work both early shifts 8am-4pm and late shifts 2-10pm and cover staff absences.
  • Strong communication skills to support, maintain and improve relationships within the service.
  • Experience of working effectively in a team with the ability to address specific equality or diversity issues within your practice with colleagues/service users and taking action to solve them.
