EHCP Coordinator
The SEND Service is responsible for managing the statutory functions involved in educational, health and care needs assessments and maintaining all Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), whilst working collaboratively with the child or young person and their families, the educational setting and all other professionals involved.
We are currently recruiting for one permanent position and one fixed-term position (12 months). Please indicate your preferred option in your supporting statement.
About the role
Coordinators are responsible for managing the Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plan process to ensure that children and young people with SEND (aged 0–25) receive appropriate assessments, services, and provision across Education, Health, and Social Care.
As a coordinator you will have a defined caseload and have primary responsibility for coordinating the entire EHC process with families, from the initial needs assessment to the finalisation of the plan. This includes:
- Managing the EHC Needs Assessment, presenting cases to the SEN Panel, coordinating assessments from partner agencies, and drafting and finalising EHC Plans in collaboration with families.
- You will be expected to demonstrate a professional, solution-focused approach, acting as exemplars within the service and maintaining a strong focus on improving customer satisfaction.
- Carry out all statutory SEN assessment and placement duties efficiently and within timescales, ensuring appropriate placement decisions are made for children and young people aged 0–25.
- Ensure that the provision outlined in EHC Plans is effectively delivered, coordinators will work collaboratively with service providers and families, taking appropriate action where delivery is not meeting expectations. They are also responsible for managing processes such as Annual Reviews, Transition Reviews, provision and placement requests, and changes to the EHCP.
- Lead Annual Reviews when required and contribute to the service’s monitoring systems for managing all review processes.

About you
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent in English and Maths and bring a strong understanding of service delivery across Education, Health, and Care.
- Relevant experience within SEN, including detailed knowledge of SEN legislation and the SEND Code of Practice, as well as an understanding of the agencies involved in EHC assessments and plan delivery.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong customer service, and the ability to prioritise effectively under pressure.
- Strong organisational skills, creativity, and resilience, along with the determination to overcome challenges and deliver positive outcomes.
- Commitment to resource-sharing and partnership working across teams and services.
