The SEND Service is responsible for managing the statutory functions involved in educational, health and care needs assessments and maintaining all Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), whilst working collaboratively with the child or young person and their families, the educational setting and all other professionals involved.

About the role

As an EHC Coordinator, you will manage a caseload of children and young people with SEND aged 0–25, coordinating the Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plan process from assessment through to finalisation and review. You will work closely with families, schools, health and social care professionals to ensure plans are completed efficiently, appropriate placements and provision are secured, and agreed support is effectively delivered.

You will also manage Annual Reviews, transitions and placement requests, working collaboratively with families and professionals to find positive solutions for children and young people with complex needs. If you would like an informal discussion about the role, please contact Helen Mayne at helen.mayne@achievingforchildren.org.uk

About you

We’re looking for someone with a strong understanding of SEND and a commitment to achieving positive outcomes for children, young people and families. You will have:

  • GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent).
  • Detailed knowledge of SEND legislation, the SEND Code of Practice and the EHC Plan process.
  • Relevant experience within SEND, including working across education, health and care.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to produce clear, high-quality statutory documents.
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and work to statutory timescales.
  • Experience of multi-agency and partnership working.
  • A good understanding of safeguarding, equality and disability.
  • A collaborative, solutions-focused approach and a commitment to Achieving for Children’s values of Trust, Empower and Respect.
