Family Hub Community Coordinator Assistant

Achieving for Children’s Family Hubs sit within the Early Intervention and Community Service, within the Family and Adolescents Directorate. The Family Hubs aim to make a positive difference to the lives of children and young people by providing physical and virtual spaces where families can easily access information and advice and a joined up support they need from different services to help them deal with the challenges they are facing. The offer at each hub will be developed in response to local needs, incorporating the views of children and families and will be delivered with a range of AfC team and partners.The hubs are essential in delivering the Early Help agenda, providing access to information, advice, guidance and support on child development, parenting skills, healthy lifestyles and keeping safe.

We have an exciting opportunity to join an organisation that is focused on providing the very best service to our children, young people and Community Users.  In the role you will be working as part of the Family Hub Community Team.  You will need to meet and greet and receive members of the public and professionals entering the Family hub dealing with signposting, enquiries and incidents as they occur.  The role is for 10 hours per week during Term Time and will be mainly weekend and evening work and will involve some lone working. 

Please note the salary shown is Full time equivalent will be pro-rated accordingly to part time and term time only.

About the role

The Community Coordinator Assistant  supports  the smooth operational delivery of community activities and building management at larger Family Hub sites in Kingston or Richmond. They will normally be based at a specific named Family Hub. 

  • They  will be working as part of the Family Hub Community team.  They will need to greet and receive members of the public and professionals entering the Family Hub dealing with signposting, enquiries and incidents as they occur.
  • The role involves undertaking a variety of general administrative duties as directed.
  • They will support the Community Coordinator by setting up and clearing down rooms for activities and help to ensure fridges and refreshment receptacles are  hygienic .
  • They will assist in reporting building repairs to the FM help desk, update notice boards and assist in the safety of staff and other visitors who use the centre by manning the reception desk entrance doors.
  • They will assist in ensuring the site is welcoming, clean, tidy and risk free.
  • The role requires being a key holder to open and lock the Family Hub as part of an Operation Team rota.

About you

We are looking for a successful candidate with the qualities below:

  • Educated to GCSE level C or above (or equivalent) in Mathematics and English.
  • Experience of a range of front of house duties in a busy, focussed environment such as meeting and greeting visitors, answering telephone calls and email enquiries and ensuring the reception and general building is kept clean and tidy.
  • Experience of working in a customer care environment where confidentiality is respected and a non judgemental attitude is adopted.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders, including children, young people, their families and the community.  
  • Some basic IT experience.
  • Commitment to addressing specific equality or diversity issues within your practice with colleagues/service users and taking action to solve them.
