Housing & Support Assistant (Casual)
We are recruiting for a brand new housing team to support our care leavers moving into our in-house supported accommodation provision.
This role is a zero hour contract and shifts can be during the day, evenings, the weekend and overnight to meet the needs of the service.
The central Maidenhead location, which has been recently been refurbished to a high specification, will accommodate 20 care leavers requiring step down provision before they move on into their more permanent housing. It is a 24/7 service and the shift are usually either - AM starting at 8am, PM starting at 2pm or overnight starting at 10pm.
We will be operational from October 2026.
This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of an expanding service that is already well established in Kingston.
Hourly rate: From £14.11 up to £15.81 per hour
About the role
You will be based within the Housing and Outreach support team (HOST) and you will be based at our new supported housing project in Maidenhead. We are looking for individuals who have excellent administration and communication skills who can relate well to young people. We are looking for someone who can work flexibly with a can do attitude who can undertake a varied role.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting care leavers and unaccompanied asylum seeking children who have low support needs and are working towards living more independently. This includes supporting them with practical tasks like form filling, applying for jobs or college courses or assisting with developing their life skills e.g. cooking sessions.
- Ensuring the health & safety and security of the building.
- Undertaking daily cleaning and maintenance tasks.
- Lend a listening ear to our young people, many of whom will have experienced significant trauma.
- Deal with any incidents or emergencies that may occur.

About you
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent.
- Able to demonstrate good organisational and time management skills.
- Show an understanding of Health and Safety, safeguarding and equal opportunities.
- Able to use a range of digital hardware or software to support your work effectively i.e. microsoft or Google software.
- Experience and ability to undertake domestic tasks.
