School Nurse Team Lead
This is an exciting opportunity to apply for the post of School Nursing Team Lead.
The Team Lead will work alongside the Public Health Nursing Lead; and will be required to work as a member of the School Nursing Team acting as operational lead.
Please note for this role you must hold a current, valid, full driving license and has access to a car for work purposes.
About the role
This role will be responsible for:
- Deciding how to approach tasks and develop a plan in order to accomplish them and be able to evaluate the plan.
- The team's Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and for ensuring that they are met.
- Distributing information to team members and also to all key stakeholders and will support the Public Health Nursing Lead in the provision of supervision and annual appraisals to team members.
- Supporting any SCPHN School Nursing Students, undertaking an appropriate assessor qualification if not already held.
- Work in partnership with children, young people and families to promote their health and wellbeing and provide a key link between health and education whilst promoting multi-agency working to support their needs. School nurses are the professional lead for children aged 5-19 years as part of Public Health England’s prevention and early intervention programme called the Healthy Child Programme.

About you
As School Nurse Team Lead you will have strong organisational abilities including: time management, creative-thinking, problem-solving and multitasking with the ability to work flexibly and independently with limited management oversight.
You will have a Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) qualification and experience of working in a School Nursing team.
Your Knowledge, Experience and Skills will include:
- Knowledge of the Healthy Child Programme and relevant theory that informs practice delivery.
- Experience in building strong partnerships, maintaining relationships and co-producing solutions to challenges across a diverse set of stakeholders, including children, young people and their families, advocating on behalf of our service users.
- Proven ability to effectively use an online database and computer literate with a range of software applications (including Google).
- Experience in keeping and maintaining records (in accordance with local policy and the NMC Code), as well as producing accurate reports, presentations, and written updates to a range of stakeholders (which may include families, children or young people).
