SEND Assessment Coordinator

Ready to make a life-changing impact? As a fixed-term Assessment Coordinator with Achieving for Children in Windsor and Maidenhead, you will shape vital Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) for young people aged 0–25. Working within a multi-professional disability service, you will collaborate with families and schools to manage casework, lead reviews, and champion inclusion.

About the role

In this role, you will lead statutory needs assessments and draft legally compliant, high-quality Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) for children and young people aged 0–25. You will manage end-to-end casework, facilitate annual reviews, and support Tribunal preparation when required.

A central part of your job is collaboration: you will work closely with parents and carers to ensure their voices are heard, while gathering expert reports from schools and health professionals. Operating within an integrated disability service, you will also help communicate the service's remit to wider stakeholders, promote strict safeguarding standards for disabled children, and keep your professional SEND practice sharp and up to date.

About you

To thrive in this role, you will bring a blend of SEND expertise, strong organizational skills, and a collaborative mindset. We are looking for someone who has:

  • SEND Knowledge & Experience: Extensive experience working with children and young people with SEND and their families, alongside a strong understanding of relevant legislation, statutory frameworks, and safeguarding policies.
  • EHCP Writing Skills: Proven ability or strong potential to draft clear, legally compliant Education, Health and Care Plans based on professional reports.
  • Outstanding Communication: Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation, and influencing skills to build trusted relationships with families, schools, and key stakeholders.
  • Drive & Independence: The ability to work flexibly, manage a busy workload, and meet strict statutory deadlines with minimal oversight.
  • An Innovative Mindset: A commitment to equality, diversity, and a willingness to challenge traditional ways of working to improve outcomes.
